Robert has been making wine, mead, cider, and the occasional beer in his home since 2010! His greatest love is good, red wine, but the fantasy nerd & historian in him loves making mead like the ancients. His wife, Rebecca, has a secret love of forms and paperwork, so a winery is finally being born! We are based in Boise, Idaho, and any grapes we use are grown from Idaho earth. Our winery is still a MICRO winery (we can hold hands and touch both the walls of our space), so we would love for you to come along side us as we grow!
WHat is mead?
Wine mostly comes from grapes; in the same way, mead comes from honey. In the cold North, there was beer for the commoners and mead for kings, but then wine arrived and it was far easier to produce--first for kings then for the common people. Mead drifted to the fringes of society. Now it's making a comeback! Support the bees and the biosphere by drinking honey-based fermented drinks! Mead is based in honey, but it carries a wide creative license and can be made with grapes, hops, cloves, apples, chocolate, or whatever creativity we can throw at it!
